Widely acclaimed as ""Oriental Homeric epics,"" ""Gesar"" took shape gradually from around 300 BC to AD 6th century. From the early 7th century to the 9th century, the epic was further brought to completion. Gesar offers a startling panorama of how Gesar fought battles here and there, vanquished demons and monsters, as well as bring benefit to the people, representing the highest achievement of ancient Tibetan literature.

作者简介

降边嘉措，藏族，1938年出生于四川省甘孜藏族自治州巴塘县，1950年参加中国人民解放军，1956年调民族出版社从事翻译、出版工作，直至1980年。1981年到中国社会科学院民族文学研究所，从事《格萨尔》研究。出版了《〈格萨尔〉初探》《格萨尔王全传》《〈格萨尔〉的历史命运》《〈格萨尔〉与藏族文化》《〈格萨尔〉论》《走进格萨尔》《格桑梅朵》 《十三世达赖喇嘛》《班禅大师》《雪山名将谭冠三》《李觉传》等著作。

吴伟 1988年毕业于中国社会科学院研究生院，获文学硕士学位。长期从事出版组织、策划、编辑、经营以及对外出版管理工作。著有《格萨尔王全传》《格萨尔人物论》《十三世达赖喇嘛》《西藏文学》等多部专著及小说。

GYANPIAN GYAMCO

Gyanpian Gyamco， of the Tibetan ethnic group， was born in Batang County of the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province in 1938. He joined the PLA in 1950. He worked for the Ethnic Publishing House from 1956 to 1980.Beginning in 1981， he was transferred to work for the Ethnic Literature Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Socal Sciences， engaging exclusively in the research into King Gesar. His works include A Probe Into King Gesar， Biography of King Gesar，Historical Fate of Gesar， Gesar and Tibetan Culture， On Gesar，Approaching Gesar， Galsang Medo， The 13th Dalai Lama， Master Panchen Erdeni， Snowland General Tan Guansan and Biography oF Li Jue.
WU WEI
Wu Wei graduated from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with an MA degree in 1988. She engaged in the publishing business as an editor and manager forprolonged period of time. Her works include Biography of King Gesar， Figures in King Gesar， The 13th Dalai Lama and Tibetan Literature. She now works for China National Publications Import & Export （Group） Corporation.
